About the facility
In 2021, LNBio inaugurated the Biomolecule Synthesis Laboratory (LSB) in order to serve CNPEM’s entire scientific community. By providing high-quality biomolecules for a wide array of lines of research, the LSB is a strategic laboratory that centralizes the production and distribution of materials that are essential for various areas of science, thus optimizing the use of resources and accelerating research.
In 2024 the LSB was opened to outside users in order to catalyze Brazilian science. The main competence of this facility is the synthesis of peptides and oligo-elements of nucleic acids like primers, probes, and aptamers of DNA or RNA. The lab is equipped with modern synthesizers and uses solid-phase synthesis, in which phosphoramidite monomers and amino acids are utilized to construct oligo-elements or peptides.
Through different chemical strategies, we also synthesize molecules with specific residues, markers, ligands, fluorophores, or other modifications, expanding the range of options for biomolecule application. Modern equipment with high degrees of precision and sensitivity permits detailed characterization of the biomolecules, ensuring the quality of these essential inputs and their viability in a broad range of scientific methodologies and objectives.
How to submit research proposals
Submit proposals through the SAU Online. If you have any questions about submitting your proposal, please email the CNPEM User’s Office at edu@cnpem.br.
