- Bioassays Laboratory
About the facility
With a solid and well-established trajectory of over 15 years, the Bioassay Laboratory (LBE) at LNBio specializes in conducting bioassays using High Throughput Screening (HTS) and High Content Screening (HCS) methods. This automated approach, based on various miniaturized biochemical and cellular assays, enables the rapid and precise identification of thousands of molecules with biological potential. With cutting-edge technology and extensive expertise, LBE positions itself as a reference center for large-scale screenings, contributing to significant advancements in the research and development of new molecules with biotechnological and pharmaceutical applications.
LBE features a highly modern and fully automated infrastructure, ensuring maximum efficiency and reproducibility across all experimental stages. Its facilities include high-precision liquid dispensers, a robotic platform for liquid handling, and advanced automated plate-reading systems, including HCS-type automated microscopes that enable detailed and high-performance readings. Additionally, LBE stands out as a specialized center for studies focused on understanding intermolecular interactions, cellular pathways, and various biologically relevant processes, serving different research groups.
How to submit research proposals
From March 2025, academic researchers interested in carrying out various biochemical experiments can submit their proposals via the SAU. Proposals for cell experiments can be submitted from the second half of 2025. The LBE offers complete scientific support, ranging from experimental planning and the choice of analysis method to trial execution, user training and preliminary data analysis. With its infrastructure and specialized staff, the LBE provides an ideal environment for conducting high-quality, scientifically rigorous experiments.
To use LBE you must submit a proposal via the SAU Online. If you have questions, email the CNPEM User’s Office at edu@cnpem.br or contact the facility staff by writing to lbesuporte@lnbio.cnpem.br.
