- Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory
About the facility
This laboratory focuses on evaluating the structure and activity of proteins and their interactions with small molecules (pharmaceuticals and drugs) or macromolecules (DNA, RNA, and carbohydrates), making it possible to identify modifications in metabolic profiles and potential alterations in metabolic pathways.
Nuclear magnetic resonance is an alternative technique that is widely used to resolve the atomic structure of proteins, particularly those with low molecular weights which do not form crystals. This technique offers advantages over crystallography and cryogenic electron microscopy, since it allows researchers to study the dynamics of interactions between proteins and various ligands for samples in solution.
How to submit research proposals
The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance lab operates on a continuous basis Proposals can be submitted any time during the year, though the SAU Online. If you have questions, email the CNPEM User’s Office at edu@cnpem.br.
