- Automatic Protein Crystallization Laboratory
About the facility
ROBOLAB is a laboratory specializing in the crystallization of proteins and their complexes, with a focus on automation, high-throughput, and accessibility for the scientific community. The laboratory is available to internal and external researchers, offering modern infrastructure and services that substantially boost the chances of success in obtaining crystals for structural studies via X-ray diffraction.
ROBOLAB’s mission is to enable and accelerate structural biology projects, contributing to scientific progress in the areas of health, biotechnology and drug discovery. With state-of-the-art technology and qualified service, the crystallization stage becomes more accessible, efficient and reproducible.
The facility’s infrastructure includes a high-precision pipetting robot that permits assembly of nano-volume crystallization drops, an automated system for preparing customized crystallization matrices with high accuracy, as well as two large incubation and automatic imaging devices for plates at 4°C and 18°C, with remote access for monitoring experiments.
It offers initial screening of conditions, crystal optimization, co-crystallization with ligands, as well as technical support and scientific advice throughout all experimental stages.
Inspired by the leading international crystallization centers, ROBOLAB has established itself as a national reference platform for supporting structural biology.
Submit a research proposal! Users send in their samples, and the entire process is carried out by ROBOLAB’s technical team.
