Bioassays are used to evaluate large collections of molecules and select starting molecules for drug discovery projects. Highlights include structural biology approaches and biochemical, biophysical and cellular assays in high-throughput screening, as well as testing various cell types, including immortalized cells and human models derived from stem cells in two-dimensional (neurons and neural progenitors) and three-dimensional (neural organoids) modalities. Along with molecular biology tools, this group uses biotechnological routes to prospect for molecules of pharmaceutical interest.
