TAL effectors are bacterial proteins that function as transcriptional activators in the plant cell. In this seminar, we will present how TAL effectors from the citrus canker pathogen Xanthomonas citri modulate the function of specific targets in the host cells to promote cell division and growth. In addition, we will show the progress achieved so far, here at the LNBio, in the development of citrus plant with increased resistance against X. citri.
