Facility Rules

  • Our staff provides training and instrument access for all users. The facility works from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Scheduled experiments must start at the very beginning of each scheduled period and, in the case of any delay, the experimentation must be canceled previously. Not observing this rule may result in restrictions on future schedules.
  • Users can only operate an equipment after been trained by the LEC’s staff. Please, schedule your training in advance.
  • The experiments must be finished 10 minutes before the end of the Lab period.
  • The users must bring all the materials required for the experiments including pipettes, tips, tubes, water and filtered caps.The facility does not supply these materials, as well as reagents.
  • Users must follow LNBio’s biosafety rules and wear gloves, coats, pants and closed shoes to manipulate samples and buckets.
  • Samples must be brought ready, or almost ready, to LEC.
  • Users must only stay in the laboratory during the experiments. Computers are allowed in the lab when used to help in the experiments and in the indicated places. For other purposes, users are invited to use the Science Café area.
  • Users are responsible for sample disposal and must observe the disposal container for each waste.
  • Cuvettes must be acquired with the technician. They are extremely delicate and, therefore, requires careful handling. Always wear gloves when handling cuvettes and use KimWipes tissues to dry them.
  • Users are responsible for cleaning the cuvettes and the used area after concluding the experiments. Special solutions are available for cleaning cuvettes.
  • It is forbidden to disconnect or unplugged any cable or device in the laboratory.
  • It is not allowed to alter the voltage or any other specification of equipment.
  • Remember that the computers are used exclusively for managing appliances and data analysis. Data storage is the responsibility of the user and if it remains in the computer can be deleted without notice.
